Boys To Men Mentoring
The mentoring programme was developed by staff and pupils at Lockerbie Academy. The programme, for young boys, combines mentorship with the principles of nurture and violence prevention. The programme is adapted to each school or college resulting in a unique course that meets the needs of young men in their own communities. The programme trains the boys to become mentors in their own right. They find confidence, purpose and pride as visible role models and in supporting younger boys in their own journey through the programme. The programme aims to improve emotional literacy and provide boys with the language needed to discuss their feelings with others and defuse conflicts without resorting to violence.

Our "Good Guy"
Life is extraordinarily complicated for our young boys, and it sometimes seems that the odds can be stacked against them. This is where our positive male role models come in.
Our storytellers are the "Good Guys". The media too often distorts the image of men by representing examples of poor male behaviour. Story tellers and "Good Guys" change that narrative.

Impact
The programme has proven to be highly effective in improving attendance and leading pupils towards positive destinations. Participants receive multiple accreditations, making it a valuable addition to their education. Education Scotland has recognised the course as best practice, and it has been successfully implemented in several schools.
